STREET STYLE SPOTLIGHT: ELENA PERMINOVA!

As a leggy model and wife of a billionaire media mogul, Elena Perminova is pretty much guaranteed to have an enviable wardrobe.

But the Russian beauty is more than just a walking mannequin: she somehow oozes cool-girl ease even in head-to-toe couture. Maybe it’s her perfectly tousled bob and penchant for super-fly sunglasses; or perhaps it’s her knack for high-low mixing, as she demonstrated in an embellished Chanel jacket and skinny jeans at the alpha label’s recent haute couture show.

All we know is that this front-row fixture is hitting all the right notes.

EASY OUTFIT UPGRADE: MATCH YOUR SHIRT TO YOUR SKIRT!

You're staring into your closet 15 minutes before you have to bolt for a meeting/date/interview/night on the town with the girls. Nothing looks like it'll work, until you think to yourself, "What would Lupita do?"

Who is more inspiring than the ultra-talented and ridiculously fashionable actress Lupita Nyong'o? In recent months, she, like so many other stylish stars, has taken a liking to monochromatic looks.

Pair a top with a matching skirt and you're ready to roll. But perhaps you never got around to adding a skirt suit to your wardrobe. Fret not: You can fake it. In fact, pairing a top—whether it's a tank, a tee, or a blouse—with a skirt in the same shade is a little trick we've been using for years.

You look pulled together, slimmed down, and a little metropolitan in two simple steps.
Step one: put on a shirt.
Step two: pull on a skirt in a matching hue. Best to make sure the textures or patterns play well off each other.

Emma Watson and Emma Stone, two actresses known for their strong sartorial sides, both paired skirts with feminine tops in the same color family. Note how they both played with texture and used opaque pieces as a foil to more sheer ones.

BIG SPRING TREND: WHITE HOT MANICURES!

If you're not quite into out-there nail art but crave something a tad more interesting than a simple nude nail, this spring's whiteout trend might just be the solution to your manicure woes.

The crisp and clean white mani hit the spring 2014 runways and served up one of the most streamlined looks we've seen in a while.

At Nanette Lepore, the look was a short, natural nail with a stark blanche nail. The look at Calla had a retro surfer vibe. A snow white nail let the pastel garments shine. Although Cushnie et Ochs opted for a pointed tip with a silver stripe, a solid white background made the other manicure elements pop.

The nails at Prabal Gurung were so frothy white, we were seeing clouds.

Get this hot-off-the runway look at home with some of our favorite eggshell polishes.

Deborah Lippmann's Amazing Grace is a pure white cream lacquer that's as clean and simple as the song it was named after. Marshmallow by Essie  is a delectable creamy white hue, perfect for any classic French mani. Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel in Spirit is a milky white polish we just can't get enough of.

PORTIA DE ROSSI BROUGHT SHEER ELEGANCE TO THE RED CARPET!

While her wife, Ellen DeGeneres, was preparing for her second turn hosting the Academy Awards,Portia de Rossi shined on the red carpet, dressed in a Naeem Khan halter gown from the designer's Pre-Fall 2014 collection. Though lacking in color, the dress is certainly not short on sex appeal, thanks to its laser-cut design and nude underlay.

The actress swept back her short hair and added a gold clutch and beaded cuff to her look. She kept her makeup minimal, which was a great move; a dress like this--complete with beaded details and a cinched waist--really doesn't need much more.

We've spotted other celebrities with a similar look, including Megan Gale, Jennifer Lopez, and Regina King.

It certainly was a red carpet trend.

WHAT TO WEAR WITH WHITE PANTS!

NOW TRENDING: BLACK BIRDCAGE VEIL HATS!

When Rita Ora wore a cheeky chantilly lace face veil and headband hybrid to Carine Roitfeld's Mademoiselle C Cocktail Party during Paris Fashion Week last October, we knew we'd see many more interpretations of the ladylike look over the months to come.

Looks like our prediction finally came to fruition—along with one or two appearances on fashion-forward fashionistas at NYFW a few weeks back,Rihanna happens to be the latest boldface name to step out with mesh netting daintily covering her darling face.

The edgy hair accessory RiRi wore to the Givenchy Fall 2014 runway show wasn't nearly as flirty and feminine as Ora's. However, the risque R&B starlet's fascinator was traditional in that it was fashioned with fishnet, but individual in that it was paired with a backwards baseball cap. So unexpected and wrong—it was actually right.

IZABEL GOULART SHREDS THE PARIS SIDEWALKS!

Leave it to Izabel Goulart to treat a sidewalk like a catwalk in Paris this week. And why not?

As Paris Fashion Week burns up the town, the stunning Brazilian model looked so stunning prancing nonchalantly along Place Vendome that she brought new meaning to the phrase "tearing it up" with her stylishly shredded jeans.

And, oh, yeah, her plain white tee and trench combo get two thumbs up as well. But the best part of her outfit has got to be those incredible beige-and-white pumps. We love the contrast between these elegantly sexy shoes and the post-punk urban reference of her designer denim. Walk that walk, Izabel.

NOW TRENDING: THE NO-HAIRCUT HAIRCUT!

For as long as we can remember, the I-spent-three-hours-in-the-salon look was all the red carpet rage (think Old Hollywood waves, chic chignons, intricate braids, and tumbling S-curls).

Now, the I-woke-up-like-this look is set to take center stage. In case you haven't noticed, A-listers such as Jessica Alba, Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung,Kristen Stewart, and many more seem to be slacking off and shying away from super-sculpted strands, opting for a far less perfect, ultra-shaggy, I-haven't-had-a-proper-haircut-in-six-months type 'do instead. (In fact, the no-haircut haircut is essentially the new way to do ombre.)

If you're thinking of test driving laid-back, low-maintenance locks, don't forget to palm a glossy finishing serum through your strands every day. Regardless of how effortless the style may be, it's the slight-shine factor that'll ensure your mane still looks pretty and polished.
