Simon Cowell is the first to admit he’ll have his hands full when girlfriend Lauren Silverman welcomes their child next year.
“I’m not brilliant with babies. I never know what to do,” the first-time dad-to-be confesses to Parade.In fact, Cowell is already looking forward to a later stage when he can “be a good dad in terms of advice.”“I’ll get to do all the things I want to do, like go to Disneyland or Universal Studios, teach him how to drive,” he says, adding, “I love all that.”
Reflecting on his own childhood, and how it’s inspired his role as a reality TV judge, Cowell admits he was a “lippy kid” and “couldn’t keep my mouth shut.”He recalls, ”I was always getting into trouble with my parents and in school, finding things funny that shouldn’t be. I couldn’t go to weddings or church because I would just lose it.”And in many ways, he’s still a child at heart, unabashedly admitting that he still loves “animals and cartoons.”“I pretty much like everything I liked as a kid — the same foods and TV programs,” says the music mogul. “I still watch ‘Scooby-Doo.’ I never grew up.
”Another key to Cowell’s happiness — keeping busy.“My number one fear is being bored,” Cowell says, quipping, “I’d rather jump off a bridge than retire and play golf.”
