TRESS TRICK TO TRY: FATTEN UP YOUR FISHTAIL BRAID!

Now that your regular, run of the mill side braid has been upgraded to the four-strand fishtail, it's time to up the ante on the look once again by plumping up the plait. As recently seen on Maria Menounos and singer Rochelle Humes.

when it comes to braids these days, apparently the bigger, the better. If your hair happens to be on the thinner side, try one of these tricks to thicken up your plait:

1) Add extensions. Just clip them in before you start braiding. (Bonus points if they're a totally different color from your hair; an ombre fishtail braid would be stunning.)

2) Add extra texture. A light dusting of volumizing and texturizing powder, or a spritz of sea salt spray, will remove the slip from pin-straight strands, which will help your hair seem thicker.

3) Pull it apart. After loosely braiding your hair down to the ends and securing it with a snag-free elastic, rustle the braid between your fingers to relax it even more. A slack braid tends to appear thicker than one that is taut.
